The Obedience Revolution is a space, inspired by God, where I hope to inspire others to faith-filled action. My goal in creating this space is to start an obedience revolution.

For awhile now, God has been speaking to me about beholding Him and becoming like Him. My initial goal was to write a book on identity and finding our true identity in the person of Christ, while also writing devotional content in a blog-like setting. However, a recent conversation with some friends has added an interesting layer to my goal, and I think a piece of my assignment from God.

In a text message with some friends, I was congratulating one of them on publishing a devotional. They responded with a “thank you” and the following statement, “definitely out of my comfort zone but just trying to be more obedient these days.”

If you know anything about my family, we’ve definitely been on an obedience journey the past few years. With my husband leaving the security of his job to become a local missionary, and all of the opportunities provided to us to trust God’s timing and provision.

So my response to our friend was, “I think we need to start an obedience revolution!” My husband responded, “sounds like the name of a new book.” And from there the idea for this website and upcoming book were born.

What’s even more interesting is that when I look back through my journal, where I write down what Father God is speaking to me during my quiet time with Him, there is a consistent theme. I’ve been writing “BE comes before DO” for awhile now. At first, I discerned that this was connected to my initial goal of writing about beholding and becoming like Jesus. It was about a call to be with Him and become like Him, to find our identity rooted in the person of Jesus. But that day, when I said we needed to start an obedience revolution, God began to reveal so much more to me.

“BE comes before DO” is so much more than simply beholding and becoming like Jesus and rooting our identity in Him. It is a roadmap for this life and our faith walk. We are to behold Him and become like Him, to find our true identity rooted in Him, but we are also to obey Him, to do what He says. In fact, it should be out of the overflow of our love for Jesus that we are compelled to action, to obedience. And THAT is what the Obedience Revolution is all about!

I’m excited to take you on this journey with me. I will share devotional blog content along the way. Perhaps even sharing tidbits from my upcoming book. What I hope is that you will be inspired to go on a journey of beholding and becoming like Jesus, and that you would choose to obey Him and to do what He asks of you, out of an overflow of your love for Him.

Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-29
