Make room! Make room! That the King of Glory may come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in power.
The King of Glory desires an audience with you. But you say, ‘Why would He want an audience with me? I should be asking to be an audience with Him. This doesn’t fit into the narrative that I’m used to.’
Upon awakening to the sound of “make room,” I was reminded of Psalm 24. God brought me back to this verse to focus on another aspect of His heart for His people.
As I pondered what it meant to be an audience with the King, I went to the internet for an answer. According to the Royal Household at Royal.uk, an audience is a one-on-one meeting with the King. These meetings are usually reserved for diplomatic, political, religious, or military leaders, along with those who’ve been awarded a prestigious prize.
I don’t know about you, but when company is coming to our house, I activate my family to the process of cleaning. I consider the food and refreshments I have available to serve our guests and I make preparations. In fact, at times, I stress a little bit too much about the condition of my home before company is coming over.
If we are inclined to make preparations for our guests to come to our home, then how much more should we be inclined to prepare for a visitation of the King of Glory? We are in a season where God is thundering: Make room for Me! Make room for Me in your lives!
So wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you doorways of eternity! Welcome the King of Glory, for He is about to come through you. Psalm 24:7 (TPT)
In Psalm 24:7, God’s people are referred to as living gates and doors. We are the temple of the Lord, the dwelling place of the Holy of Holies. We are the gates and doors through which the presence and glory of God is released into the earth! In fact, the phrase “lift up your heads” refers to a bold confidence that brings rejoicing and hope. We lift up our heads in anticipation, as a symbol of honor and readiness to receive someone of GREAT importance.
Psalm 24:7 is a call to prepare our hearts to receive the presence and glory of God!
We must PREPARE to receive in greater measure the presence of God in our lives. We must prepare to receive so that we may power out His glory in the earth. That His glory may come THROUGH us!
We are conduits for the glory and presence of God! We don’t just carry the glory, we transfer it into the atmosphere.
Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle. Psalm 24:8 (NLT)
According to the Study Bible, “who is the King of glory” is a rhetorical question that invites us to reflect on the identity and majesty of God. In fact, glory in the Strong’s concordance (3519) is the Hebrew word kabowd which means weight, splendor, and copious.
How do we prepare to bear up under the weight of His glory?
We prepare our hearts to receive through prayer, repentance, and making time and space in our lives for Jesus; pursuing quality time with Him; abiding in His presence (John 15) all day long. We prepare to receive His glory by prioritizing His presence, and by praying for more of Him (Jesus, increase!) and surrendering more of ourselves to Him (I must decrease!). It is a daily choice to surrender our will, our time, and our preferences to our Most Holy God.
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!
You are the way!
You are the vessel the Lord CHOOSES to use in THIS hour!
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord, strong and mighty.
Prepare your hearts to receive a greater measure of His glory to come THROUGH you! NOW is the time! NOW is the season! NOW is the appointed time for a visitation of our Most Holy King!
